Is BOWLMINE available as an app in the App Store or on Google Play?
No, and that is intentional. BOWLMINE is a so-called web app (PWA): you open it in your browser, add it to your home screen in one step, and from then on it behaves like a regular app — it starts from an icon, runs in its own window without an address bar and can send notifications.
Why is there no native app?
- You get new features right away. Every improvement is available as soon as it is released — no waiting for app store approval and no manual updates.
- The same features on every device. Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and Mac all use one and the same app. Nothing works on your phone but not on your computer.
- Faster development. Instead of maintaining several separate apps, we spend our time on what benefits you: new features and fixes.
- It takes up almost no space. Installation takes seconds and uses only a fraction of the storage a regular app needs.
How do I install BOWLMINE on Android?
- Open bowlmine.com in your browser (for example Chrome).
- In the browser menu, choose Install app or Add to home screen.
- The BOWLMINE icon appears on your home screen and among your other apps.
How do I install BOWLMINE on an iPhone or iPad?
- Open bowlmine.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up).
- Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm.
Notifications require iOS / iPadOS 16.4 or later, and you must start BOWLMINE from the icon on your home screen — notifications do not work in Safari itself on an iPhone or iPad.
How do I install BOWLMINE on a Windows computer?
- Open bowlmine.com in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
- Click the install icon on the right side of the address bar, or find Install BOWLMINE in the browser menu.
- Confirm the installation.
BOWLMINE then appears in the Start menu and you can pin it to the taskbar. On a Mac, follow the same steps.
How do I turn on notifications?
- Sign in to your account — notifications are only available to signed-in users.
- Tap the bell icon and open the Notifications page.
- In the Notifications on this device panel, tap Turn on notifications on this device.
- Your browser asks whether BOWLMINE may show notifications — choose Allow.
That is all — notifications start arriving immediately, there is nothing else to set up. On an iPhone or iPad, the button only appears in BOWLMINE started from the icon on your home screen. You can turn notifications off at any time with the Turn off button in the same panel.
What do notifications tell me about?
The same events you see under the bell icon — for example when someone comments on your post or mentions you, sends you a friend request, when something happens in your groups, or when a new tournament is added at a bowling center you follow. Tapping a notification takes you straight to the relevant page.
Do I have to allow notifications on each device separately?
Yes. Permission always applies to a specific device and browser. If you use BOWLMINE on both your phone and your computer and want notifications on both, turn them on on each of them.
Notifications are blocked. How do I turn them on?
If you declined the browser's request once, the panel on the Notifications page shows that notifications are blocked, and the browser will not ask again. You need to change the permission manually:
- In the browser (Android, Windows, Mac): click the icon to the left of the address and allow Notifications in the site permissions.
- In the installed app on your phone: open Apps (on an iPhone, Notifications) → BOWLMINE in your phone settings and turn notifications on.
Then reload BOWLMINE.
Notifications are turned on, but I do not receive any. What should I check?
- Are you signed in on that device, and does the panel on the Notifications page show that they are turned on?
- Is Do Not Disturb or Focus mode turned on?
- Are notifications for the browser (or the BOWLMINE app) also allowed in your system settings?
- Is your phone restricting BOWLMINE or the browser to save battery?
- On an iPhone or iPad: are you starting BOWLMINE from the icon on your home screen rather than from Safari?
How do I uninstall BOWLMINE?
Just like any other app: on a phone, press and hold the icon and choose to remove it; on Windows, right-click BOWLMINE in the Start menu → Uninstall. This does not affect your account or data in any way.
