Who can see your posts

BOWLMINE decides who can see a post based on where it was published, your own settings, and our moderation rules. Here is how visibility works for personal posts, posts in groups, and official posts from bowling centers and tournaments.

Who can see a personal post?

A personal post — one published under your own name, not on behalf of a group, bowling center, or tournament — depends on two things together: the visibility you chose for that post, and your profile's visibility.

When you write it, you choose Public (anyone can see it) or Friends (only your connections). Your profile setting can narrow that further: with a Friends only profile, even your public posts are limited to friends; with a Private profile, nobody but you can see your posts, whatever you chose for the individual post.

Who can see a post in a group?

Posts published in a group — whether written as the group itself or under your own name but shown on the group's page — do not offer the Public/Friends choice at all. Instead, the group's own visibility decides:

  • A public group shows its posts to anyone.
  • A private group, or a group our team is currently reviewing, shows its posts only to active members.
  • A group hidden by our moderation team leaves its posts visible only to the people who wrote them.
  • When a group is dissolved, posts written on behalf of the group are deleted, so nobody sees them, not even their authors. Posts that members wrote in the group under their own names are then visible only to their authors.

For more about groups, see Groups.

Who can see a post from a bowling center or a tournament?

Posts published on behalf of a bowling center or a tournament — announcements, results, news — are always public. No visibility choice is offered for them, since they represent an organization rather than a person.

What if I am blocked by someone, or I block them?

Blocking another user hides your personal posts from each other, in both directions. This does not apply to posts published on behalf of a group, a bowling center, or a tournament — those stay visible, because they represent the organization, not the person who wrote them.

What does it mean when my post is excluded from a group?

The owner or an admin of a group can exclude a single post from the group — for example, if it no longer fits the group's purpose. This does not delete the post: it only stops it from being shown as part of the group. After that, only the post's author and the group's owner and admins can still see it (with a note explaining the exclusion); other members and visitors no longer see it there. While excluded, the post cannot be liked, commented on, or shared; any likes and comments it already had remain and stay visible to whoever can see the post. The exclusion can be reversed at any time, and the author can still edit or delete the post as usual.

What happens if a post is reported and reviewed by BOWLMINE?

When a post is reported enough times — or immediately, for a suspected crime — it is temporarily hidden while our team reviews it: it stays visible to its author, with a note, but nobody else can see it. See Content moderation for how reporting and review work.

If the review confirms a rule violation, the post is hidden completely, including from its author. Instead of the post, the author receives a notification with its date and a short excerpt, along with a link to appeal the decision and to the moderation rules.
